I completely understand that perspective! It’s important to clarify that what I do isn't therapy; it’s skill development, just like physical training. While practice is essential for physical technique, mental skills like focus, managing pressure, and building confidence are just as crucial. I teach athletes how to think effectively during competition, which helps them fully utilize their physical abilities and actually have more fun while playing.

"It's too expensive, and we already spend so much on sports."

I hear you—sports can be a huge financial commitment. I like to think of mental performance coaching as an investment in maximizing the value of the time and money you’re already putting into equipment, lessons, and travel. If a mental roadblock is preventing your child from performing at their best, this training helps bridge that gap.

If a mental roadblock is preventing your child from performing at their best, this training helps bridge that gap. Often, just a few minutes of mental training can unlock breakthroughs that years of physical practice alone might not achieve.

"My child is too young to understand or benefits from this."

I don't want my child to feel like there's something wrong with them."

Just as young athletes learn fundamental physical movements, they can absolutely learn basic mental tools like positive self-talk, visualization, and how to manage those pre-game jitters. These skills don't just help in their sport—they translate into better focus in school and more resilience in their daily lives.

That is a great point, and I want to be clear: my work is about building strengths, not fixing problems. We focus on optimizing your child's potential and giving them a "mental toolbox" to thrive under pressure. I frame this as an exciting way to gain a competitive edge—much like working with a strength and conditioning coach to get physically stronger. It’s entirely proactive and empowering.

"My child's coach should be teaching them this."

"I'm worried it will add more pressure to my child."

"Will this make my child overly analytical or self-conscious?"

My goal is actually the exact opposite! I want to help reduce unhealthy pressure by giving your child clear, actionable coping strategies. We work on shifting the focus away from a need for perfection and toward effort, learning, and resilience. By helping them focus on the "process" rather than just the final score, they tend to enjoy the game much more and manage competitive stress in a healthier way.

I know how packed a young athlete’s schedule is. That’s why my sessions are designed to be efficient, impactful, and easily integrated into their existing routine. I use exercises that can be practiced in short bursts, and I make sure the sessions are engaging and relevant so your child feels the immediate benefits and stays motivated to apply what we discuss.

It’s actually the opposite. My ultimate goal is to help athletes "get out of their own heads" so they can trust their instincts and perform freely. We work on being self-aware, but then we use that awareness to take productive action rather than overthinking every move. I want to help your child become a confident, intuitive athlete.
